One of my best friends is a hard-core extremist…from the far, far left !! One of our favorite activities is slamming each other when a particularly embarrassing or newsworthy event happens in the political world. With the insanity that surrounds the world of national politics, we both have a continuous stream of material to hurl at each other.

It seems the most common thread in these “discussions”…and discussions with most Libs…is the perception (or misperception) they seem to have that the Democrat Party is “for the people” and the Republican Party is “for the corporations.” These discussions always seem to spiral down into how corporations don’t pay “their fair share” and exist simply to screw the common man. Somehow, in a Liberal’s mind, corporations don’t support the Democrat Party at all. He actually believes that Democrats are simply immune to the effects of corporate donations, while Republicans are robots driven by their evil contributor’s every whim and desire. He also firmly believes that only Republicans take money from Wall Street Fat Cats, and it was only Republicans who pocketed political contributions, looked the other way, and allowed big bankers to run wild and create the financial meltdown.

If you ever have time, there is an excellent website called www.opensecrets.org

From their mission statement: “Our Mission: Inform, Empower & Advocate. Celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2008, the Center for Responsive Politics is the nation’s premier research group tracking money in U.S. politics and its effect on elections and public policy. Nonpartisan, independent and nonprofit, the organization aims to create a more educated voter, an involved citizenry and a more transparent and responsive government. In short, CRP’s mission is to:

  • Inform citizens about how money in politics affects their lives
  • Empower voters and activists by providing unbiased information
  • Advocate for a transparent and responsive government

This website is fascinating if you have time to look around. What I found most relevant to this particular blog were the contributions in the 2008 Elections to Obama and McCain.

Obama’s top 20 contributors:

What do you notice right away? The Democrat received a lot more money from the Big Banks, Big Corporations, and Wall Street Fat Cats than the Republican. Goldman Sach’s for example, gave almost a million dollars to Obama, and a paltry 230k to McCain.

You know – Goldman Sachs

http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/summary.php?id=D000000085

It (Goldman Sachs) has been a major proponent of privatizing Social Security as well as legislation that would essentially deregulate the investment banking/securities industry. The firm tends to give most of its money to Democrats.”

So – these huge financial firms spend hundreds of millions to help elect Obama, and then he uses BILLIONS of tax payer dollars to bail them out…

What conclusions might an average person come to…?

In The Real World

Post Published: 12 April 2010

We are currently witnessing the implosion of the embedded Liberal ideology that Obama desperately tried to mask during his campaign. As always happens, the liberal way has now started to come apart at the seams. We knew Obama had exactly ZERO private sector leadership skills or experience. We knew his foreign policy skills were fine-tuned in a madrasa in Indonesia and while travelling as a young “American” in Pakistan (when Americans weren’t allowed to travel in Pakistan). We knew his relationship/bipartisanship skills were honed to a razor sharp perfection in the living room of Bill Ayres and the church of Rev. Wright. And we all know his personal playbook for implementing policy came from the teachings of Saul Alinsky. We knew all that stuff. What we are now seeing are the results when a far left radical group of politicians are put in charge.

Here are the results:

Economy: Stagnant

Budget Deficit: Extreme Increase

National Debt: Out-of-Control

Stimulus: Not very stimulating

Wealth Redistribution: Happening now

Health Care: Ruined

Wall Street: Doing pretty good

Main Street: Not doing very good

Jobs: Getting Worse

Millions of Green Jobs: ??

Interest Rates: On the rise

Gas Prices: Climbing, Climbing, Climbing

Presidential Approval Polls: Sinking, sinking, sinking

Government Transparency: Ha, ha, ha (good one)

Amnesty for Illegals: Coming Soon

Nuclear Iran: Coming Soon

In the real world, most, uh, many…uh, some of us understand that borrowing money from the next generation is a pitiful, weak-kneed solution that only the twisted mind of a politician could dream up. Most Americans view the National Debt as an extreme crisis. Most Americans intuitively know that you can’t spend this kind of money without negatively impacting economic growth. Most Americans know that the “recovery” is a jobless recovery that is mostly manufactured by Team Obama’s news corpses…and that the numbers are continuously and quietly revised downwards after they are triumphantly trumpeted over the nightly news channels.

In the real world, even a politician understands that tax payers with jobs pay more into the treasury than those without jobs. In order to pay for all of his fancy new programs, even a duller-than-usual politician would understand that SOMEONE has to pay for these programs. In a poll that showed 47% of Americans don’t pay any Federal income tax, even a very slow politician can see that at some point, ½ of America is subsidizing the other ½ already…how much more wealth redistribution can there be ?? In the more “FAIR” world of the Left, should 25% pay the way for the other 75% ??  How about the 10% of the richest people pay the whole bill…and 90% of us pay nothing??

In the real world, we need experienced, job-creating business professionals to lead us out of this morass. I’m not talking about a team of “professors of economics” or “economic model theorists”…we have had too much nonsense from Team Obama’s inexperienced group of public sector mushrooms already. We need small, medium, and large business owners to band together to shape REAL CHANGE that would enable them to sell more stuff, so they can hire more workers.

In the real world, business people lead, and government follows. In the real world, the government works for the people…and very few people work for the government. In the real world, the people are the masters and government works “by the people and for the people.” We aren’t slaves governed by our masters in elected office…THEY WORK FOR US. Until that basic relationship is firmly and unequivocally put back into its Constitutional place – and fully understood by both parties – there is no hope for our Republic.

Cyborgs

Post Published: 08 April 2010

A cyborg – cybernetic organism – as applied to humans, is an entity with a combination of human body parts and synthetic or man-made parts. The Six-Million Dollar Man, The Borg or the newest terminator in “Terminator Salvation” are famous examples….part men, part machine.

As I watch how humans increasingly become dependent on their machines, I wonder how far will this go? I know people who can’t leave their house without their Blueberries, Curvies, or Androids….they have literally become a part of their body- which makes them a cyborg.

We have machines that tell us where we are located so we don’t get lost. We have machines that enable us to walk in place so we don’t actually have to go anywhere. We have an entire generation of kids who prefer to communicate through texting, rather than actually speaking. We have an obesity epidemic because our kids would rather play with a machine than another human kid. I am typing this on a machine because I have almost forgotten how to write words on paper using a writing utensil.

As we become increasingly dependent on machines to go about our daily lives, what are we losing? What happens when the machines, who now do maybe 25% of our thinking and decision making, take over 50%…or 75%…or 100%.? The people who control the machines will control all the humans. The television machine and the internet machine already account for most of our thinking processes…there is no way we would know who is the best singer without the faces on the machines telling us. We would have no idea who to vote for without the faces on the machines telling us our political opinions. We would never be able to pick a good coffee to drink without the machines…what car to buy, what shoes to wear, what Oprah book to read. Everything is controlled by the machines.

Yea, yea…I’m a rambling lunatic. I won’t argue with myself about that. The federal government already controls most of the radio and television content you see and hear…via the FCC. Last week, Big Nanny tried to take control of the internet, and she lost, thanks to the US Court of Appeals. Big Nanny tried to argue that the FCC had control of a private internet provider’s policies, and Big Nanny was sent home a loser, having cost the taxpayers an untold amount of money. Keep an eye on her…”She’ll Be Back”.

What? You didn’t hear anything about this? You mean The Machines just forgot to tell you?

Amazing Poll Results

Post Published: 04 April 2010

http://newsmax.com/InsideCover/Carville-Outlook-Bleak-Democrats/2010/04/02/id/354625

Here is an interesting article that is somewhat interesting for the content…but even more interesting is the end result.

First off, I can’t figure out why it takes three major firms to conduct a simple, unscientific, survey of a mere 1,000 people. My kid could probably text 1,000 people during his lunch break, and probably find more valuable information. Involved in this survey was James Carville’s Democracy Corps, Tulane University, and Greenberg-Quinlan-Rosner “Research”. Just so we know who these groups are, I offer the following:

** James Carville – From Wikipedia: “(born October 25, 1944) is an American political consultant, commentator, actor, attorney, media personality, and prominent liberal pundit”.

** Tulane University – Located in New Orleans and bill itself as a “Research Institution”.

** Greenberg-Quinlan-Rosner Research – Located in Washington DC, and from their website, under “Philosophy”: Committed to progressive goals, ideas, and leaders.

What we have is three major companies involved in a tiny sampling of 1,000 voters. We don’t know from where the respondents were selected, or anything about the sampling method, or questions asked, using what terminology. Reading and understanding polls is a whole separate blog, that I may do someday, when I am really bored, and feel like really boring my readers. Let’s just leave it at this: Three highly liberal organizations conducted the survey.

What they found absolutely astonished them:

“When asked as a forced choice,” Carville’s poll says, “voters overwhelmingly pick spending cuts over tax increases as the most effective way to reduce the deficit (71 to 18 percent).”

and this nugget of amazement:

“It also discovered that “voters are wary of raising taxes, even if the revenue raised goes to something they deem important, like paying down the deficit.” “Important” is an understatement: a momentous majority – more than nine in 10 voters – considered the budget deficit “either a crisis or a major problem.”

The shock and awe continued:

“Carville and Greenberg believe the message of the President and congressional candidates can be adjusted to improve Democrats’ electoral chances; their own poll suggests the problem is policies – specifically unprecedented spending and taxes.”

So my question is how much did this poll cost? Who paid for it? Were they, the customer, satisfied with the results?

Mr. Customer: I bet you paid a couple of million dollars to conduct this survey…I will do it myself next weekend for, say, ohhhhh….1/2 that.

When you pay a left-leaning “progressive” firm to find out results, and they come back with the Tea Party’s platform…does that make you wonder?

Even the Sports Guy

Post Published: 29 March 2010

I happened across a blog which I found to be fairly typical of the mindset of your average, common, stereo-typical, left-leaning blogger:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2010/03/29/2010-03-29_hate_just_drips_from_tea_party.html

As you notice, the URL is labeled: “hate_just_drips_from_tea_party”…so you can immediately tell that even the computer nerd who is responsible for maintaining their website is part of the political machine. The entire article, picture labels, and run-of-the-mill attack’s on Sarah Palin are so sophomoric that I have to wonder how much they pay these “news industry workers” and if those levels of compensation are in-line with actual skill levels…

The article is actually entitled, “Tea Party activism is not about political dissent – It’s about vile, storm trooper sound bites.”

Obviously, the slanderous/libelous title is meant to evoke a pre-determined reaction and a consciously subconscious comparison between the Tea Party activists and Storm Troopers. As boring and typical as the rest of his blog unfolds, he could have just stopped at the title, and not wasted anymore time on his predictable groupthink effigy.

Not to go into any long-winded Star Wars analogies, but the Republic’s “Central Command and Control” and All Powerful, All-Consuming Big Government would seem to compare more favorably with Obama’s side – making the Storm Troopers more akin to SEIU thugs, Federal Union Workers, or ACORN activists. The Tea Party activist would compare more with the “resistance” (Luke, Leia, and Han Solo) that is against the Sith Lord’s destruction and consumption  of all things that encourage freedom and liberty.

So there, Mike Lupica…you’ve just indirectly opined that the Tea Party activist sounds just like an Obama Team member. Maybe you should stick to writing sports stories…

Our English Overlords

Post Published: 22 March 2010

Have you ever seen the movie, “Braveheart” starring Mel Gibson as a Scottish commoner – William Wallace – who becomes disenfranchised (to say the least) with the English occupation of his country? The movie includes a ruthless king and a bunch of weasely Noblemen who take bribes in order to maintain their positions of power…they favored their perceived security over their actual liberty. In reality, the Noblemen’s security was actually in question, as it may have been their head on a stick – literally – were they to disobey the King. In the end, the Wallace character exacts revenge on the Noblemen, is betrayed by another Nobleman with political ambitions, and is eventually disemboweled in public – but he does manage to free his country.

The following quote I have seen before, and there may be some doubt as to its origins, which I don’t really care to debate…the quote itself is sound:

Alexander Fraser Tyler, Cycle Of Democracy (1770)

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over lousy fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average of the world’s great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again to bondage.”

In America, we currently have a dangerous combination of the weasley Nobleman and the apathetic public. The “historic” vote by Nobleperson Pelosi, at the direction of King Obama, and with 215 other of the weaseliest, whiniest, spine-free Nobles in the world, just pushed with a mighty heave-ho the country from apathy to dependency. Whether you like it, or whether you even realize it, you have just become DEPENDENT on the Noblemen for your health. (Side note – the Noblemen are exempt from their plan….they will receive excellent health care for the rest of their lives at YOUR expense.)

Those of us who did not want to be dependent on Big Nanny…guess what? Not only are your health care costs and premiums going to increase, you are also going to be paying the costs for an additional 30 Million more dependents. This is going to get UGLY…very ugly. Because I make a daily choice to exercise, watch my diet, avoid smoking, and maintain a healthy lifestyle…now, as an American, I get to pay into a system in which those who purposefully choose to ruin their health can do so at my expense. What a great system…thanks Noblemen. The Noblemen on one side will be in charge of health and medicine…and Nobleman McCain (supposedly on the other side, but not really) will be in charge of supplements and protein powder. Either way, THEY will determine your path. Freedom and Liberty are not just words; they actually mean something. From now on, anytime my doctor refuses to give me liposuction, rhinoplasty, or a gluteal implant, Senators and Congressmen – you will be getting a phone call complaining about the lack of medical professionalism showed to me; you have all become full-time mediators between patient and doctor.

Finally, while I am on the subject of English Noblemen, what in the heck is going on in the entertainment industry? Why do weasely Englishmen dominate certain programs in which they judge Americans? Examples include, most famously, Simon on the karaoke show, Piers on the talent show, Len on the dancing show…and even the Super Nanny. There was even another English guy on last night telling the lunch ladies in a West Virginia city to stop feeding the chubby kids pizza for breakfast. Since when did England regain moral superiority over America…do we really need their help…do we really care what they think, or care how it is done in the U.K. ?? (More on that subject in an upcoming blog).

Apparently, 216 American Noblemen want desperately to follow the English lead when it comes to Nationalized Healthcare. I will wager that the pee-ons and subjects in their home districts are about to apply justice to their local Noblemen with tiny little plastic hole-pokers, rather than large steel hole pokers (except in Florida, where punching holes in paper still seems too difficult a task to muster).  I suppose the small plastic pokers make less of a mess, but a part of me wonders if the William Wallace-style of retribution would create a deeper level of commitment to the pursuit of right and wrong by said weasels.

I also have to wonder if Nancy Pelosi bombarded the Noblemen’s e-mail in-boxes with video after video of Simon Cowell and Super Nanny dishing out – with thick Birmingham brogues – stern rebukes and veiled threats of what might happen if they didn’t vote against the wishes of their tea-bagging constituents. I wonder if Mrs. Pelosi will be surprised when even her radical supporters start filling large, heavy bags of Earl Grey. I also hope she will be lenient when it comes to rationing out dental care…I wouldn’t want her professionally polished and whitened smile to be routinely compared in the news media to that of legendary Englishman, Austin Powers.

Now that politicians and Noblemen are in charge of health care, it is time to bring in Darth Vader (or Dick Cheney) to be the Rationer-in-Chief. Remember, once the government has control of your health care, they will also be able to CONTROL your health care. When some evil, right wing, baby-haters are elected, they will be able to make deep, serious, dangerous, child-starving, draconian, old-people-have-to-eat-dog-food type decisions…and when real, live adults are finally elected to office, and realize they have a 14 TRILLION dollar debt to clean up, and serious, tough decisions have to be made, gone will be the days of laying on your sofa, guzzling high fructose corn syrup, cramming hydrogenated trans-fat glucose into your face. You, Citizen, will comply with the diet, exercise, and supplement procedure Big Nanny has designed, or you will be jailed (where the government will force you to lay around, drink soda, and eat junk).

We, as Americans, have spent millions of lives and dollars to throw off the tyranny of all-powerful government, centralized control and command, Big Nanny, and outrageous taxation; these brave acts are what our country was founded upon.  I mistakenly have thought all along that America won the Revolutionary War. Now, 234 years later, the best our politicians can do for us is stand up and proudly sing (under the watchful eye of Simon, Len, and Piers, or course) “God Save the Queen.”

Chicago Insurance Co.

Post Published: 10 March 2010

The Obamacare health insurance mandate reminds me of a bunch of Chicago gangsters selling protection. I can just envision Obama (Al Capone), Rahm (Frank Nitti), Pelosi (Teets Battaglia), and Reid (Jack Zuta) sitting around a smoke-filled speakeasy  planning to provide “protection” to the neighborhood merchants.

We’re gonna provide you protection, see…and you are gonna take it, see…or else, see.”

Only in this case, the neighborhood merchants happen to be every citizen in the United States. While they force you to purchase insurance, at the same time, they are forcing their competitors out of business. There is plenty of bribery, arm-twisting, naked shower finger-pointing, and rampant strong-arming that make Al Capone’s exploits look like an episode of the Brady Bunch. Just today, Dick Durbin (Big Jim Colosimo) admitted on the floor of the Senate that premiums under Obamacare are likely to INCREASE versus the average cost of private insurance…what a fabulous time for the racketeering of health care.

Poll after poll after poll shows that Americans are strongly opposed to a government acquisition of the United States health care system. But Al “Obama” Capone and his henchmen are going to use every dirty, underhanded method perfected in the mean streets of Chicago to accomplish their mission.

Where, oh where, is Elliot Ness ??

News or Opinion?

Post Published: 03 March 2010

In the modern day 24/7/365 continuous news cycle, it is becoming more difficult to separate what is actually ‘news’ from what is the reporter’s opinion, or, more precisely, what is the news outlet’s opinion. Some outlets (a general term I am using to describe any print, television, radio, or internet source) are easily identified as presenting an opinion. An editorial is an example. This blog you are reading now is an example of my opinions and thoughts. In any example, there are generally a few ‘facts’ or ‘statistics’ thrown in to back up the opinions being presented, but even ‘facts’ and ‘statistics’ seem to be manipulated to tell the story of whoever compiles them. The whole collapse of the man-made global warming theory is an example of statistics being cherry-picked, hidden, or outright deleted in order to present an ‘opinion’ as a scientific fact.

Let’s analyze an example I found just today from Yahoo’s front page. The article is entitled “U.S. Deficit: Higher Taxes Needed to Cut Rising Debt.” It is from Time Magazine and written by Erik Heinrich.

 http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20100303/us_time/08599196923100

The first thing I noticed right away was Heinrich’s probable lack of understanding of the terms Deficit and Debt. So we are all clear…The deficit is how much more money the government spends than it takes in. If they take in 2 dollars, but spend 5 dollars, the deficit is 3 dollars. The debt is the total amount of securities issued by the US Treasury…or the total of I.O.U.’s the public owes, thanks to our out-of-control Executive and Legislative branches.

There are two ways to reduce the deficit. Mr. Heinrich’s article – whether purposefully or unintentionally – only offers one solution. I suspect Time Magazine, which is part of Team Obama’s News Corpse, is telling their story the way they want to tell their story. Unfortunately, that makes their “news” story merely an opinion piece.

Reducing the deficit, Option 1: Raising Taxes. An option favored by Time Magazine, and presented as the only option. The story even suggests that the English had their taxes raised, and didn’t really care, stating in the article, “…but the majority of Brits don’t seem to mind so much.” The article goes on to make a whole host of other tax raising comparisons and suggestions.

It would appear that Time Magazine is attempting to aide Team Obama by softening up the public, and trying to sway public opinion towards believing that increased taxation is coming, it is inevitable, it is the only solution, and it isn’t so bad. I suspect many, many people will buy into this story-line, and come to accept it as fact.

However, many of us understand, and we will not accept it, no matter how many “news” organs attempt to convince us otherwise. We understand what is necessary. We know how to solve the problem. We are not stupid.

Reducing the deficit, Option 2: Reducing Government Spending. The math is extremely simple. The government takes in 2 dollars, and only spends 1 dollar until the debt is erased. Then it only takes in 1 dollar and only spends 1 dollar. That is what we hillbillies call a Balanced Budget and it needs to become a Constitutional Amendment. Government should never be allowed to spend more money than it takes in. It is OUR MONEY they are abusing – not theirs.

The cowardly, impotent, weak-kneed politicians – R’s and D’s alike – who present their backsides on a daily basis to their political donors, cronies, and special interest groups need to be removed from office in 2010. Every single incumbent must go home. In Idaho, we have some politicians we like, and we think they do a good job. However, we can’t ask voters in other states to throw out Pelosi and Reid and McCain unless we are willing to do the same. We need Term Limits. We need a Balanced Budget Amendment. We need fresh ideas and a complete overhaul of Congress and the Senate.

Obama is fond of saying, “We don’t need those who created the mess to help clean up the mess.” He is correct. Every single politician in Washington DC helped create the mess. Every single one of them needs to go home. It may sound harsh…but something needs to change in a big way, in a big hurry. We simply cannot endure trillion dollar deficits. I refuse to give this country to my grandchildren in worse shape than I found it. For their future – 2010: Reboot Washington DC.

Alternate ending, for all my computer nerd readers: The political structure is infected with a spending virus. The politicians’ mainframes are overheated. The operating system in D.C. needs de-bugged and re-programmed. For their future – 2010: Reboot Washington DC.

CNN and Big Nanny

Post Published: 26 February 2010

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/02/26/cnn-poll-majority-says-government-a-threat-to-citizens-rights/?fbid=2vY6VJmIhIh

The above article is a story about a new CNN poll that shows most Americans feel the Federal Government is a threat to their individual rights and freedoms. I don’t find that very revealing, in fact, I am surprised it is only 56%…

What I do find disturbing is that only 37% of Democrats agree. These are the people who think George Bush destroyed the economy, made us LESS safe by fighting two wars, illegally wire-tapped peoples’ phones, and illegally imprisoned enemy combatants…yet they actually TRUST the Federal Government? I am confused…help me out, oh Liberal readers !!

Independents agreed at 63%, and Republicans agreed at 70%.

Republicans…exactly who are the 30% who love the Federal Government ? Oh..ok…yes…John McCain centrist-moderates. (On a related note – check out this article with Big Nanny McCain wanting a huge new government program to tax your protein powder and vitamins: http://www.jbs.org/health-care-freedom-blog/5957-proposed-dietary-supplement-regulatory-bill ). That guy is a putz…go JD Hayworth !!

Finally, since Obama has hired and given raises to a whole slew of Federal employees, I’m betting the 63% of Democrats who love the government are all employed by Big Nanny…

Poland’s 2009 GDP

Post Published: 21 February 2010

I found a headline that made me do a “double-take”: Poland’s GDP Tops European Union in 2009.

What? Poland? I had to read further…

http://www.eubusiness.com/news-eu/poland-economy.2g9

There are 27 countries in the European Union. The ONLY one to increase its GDP was Poland. (Gross Domestic Product – a basic measure of a country’s overall economic output. It is the market value of all final goods and services made within the borders of a country in a year.)

Not Germany (down 5%). Not Great Britain (down 4.3%). Not Italy (down 5%). POLAND – up 1.7%.

I have long argued with my Liberal counterparts – who long for the USA to model itself after Europe – that the European socialist economies are nothing to be that proud of. Okay, Libs…I will at last relent. We SHOULD be modeling our economic growth after Poland.

How did they do it, you ask? How did Poland experience growth when the rest of the world, including the USA, experienced decline?

Ask Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk: “We want to limit debt and decrease the deficit to make Poland the most attractive place in Europe to invest.”

From the EUBusiness article:

“Poland is by far the country in the EU with the best economic performance in 2009,” senior Danske Bank economist Lars Christensen told AFP Thursday. “Its growth was also impressive compared to the global economy.”

Conservative fiscal and monetary policy prior to the crisis created a foundation for Poland to avoid falling into crisis,” he said.

You see, Liberals, even those in Poland know that in order for a successful economy to grow, you need to limit your debt, decrease your deficit, and practice CONSERVATIVE fiscal and monetary policy.
